Job Purpose

  • Global Risk is a thriving and expert risk management function supporting HSBC globally with all aspects of risk management. 
  • The team actively manages a varied and dynamic range of risk types, including credit risk, traded & treasury risk, operational & resilience risk, geopolitical, pension, insurance, financial crime and regulatory compliance, and reputational risks. 
  • All parts of the Global Risk team use their skills, insight and integrity to handle established threats and those they see emerging, acting to protect and enable HSBC to deliver sustainable growth.

Job Responsibilities

  • Be responsible for making strategic decisions in line with Group norms and defined Risk Appetite, and driving the delivery of Risk Strategy, to enable the achievement of business results.
  • Be responsible for engaging with a range of stakeholders to define the approach to implementation of credit strategy, and guidelines that help deliver within appetite.
  • Interpret portfolio management analytics to ensure credit risks are within plan and in line with WPB Risk Appetite.
  • Be responsible for creating, maintaining and assessing a suite of customer management strategies including, upgrades, limit management, authorizations, retention, renewals, refinancing etc. 
  • In line with risk appetite and overall business strategy.
  • Develop analytical strategies to embed risk management techniques and a test and control environment.
  • Participate with Customer Lifecycle Management, WPB Finance and others to build appropriate product risk based pricing and profitability models.
  • Hold direct accountability for ensuring strong and expert exceptional underwriting capabilities, thereby allowing the bank to service bespoke client needs with a full understanding of the risks and mitigation.
  • Lead UAE Country Credit Review Forum (CCRF), and attend UAE WPB EXCO, UAE WPB Risk Management Forum (RMF), UAE WPB Product Governance, UAE WPB Sales Quality, UAE WPB CSEM and UAE WPB Incentives forums, and take independent decisions.
  • Attend UAE RMM.
  • Engage with WPB Risk MENAT functions to leverage capabilities that are servicing multiple markets, and ensure that business knowledge is being shared.
  • Provide effective oversight to UAE CCS functions.

Qualifications

  • 15+ years of financial services experience, with a significant proportion in people management roles.
  • Deep experience in secured and unsecured credit risk strategies and portfolio management.
  • Appreciation of portfolio drivers and how to influence them.
  • Strong understanding of regulatory requirements and industry best practices.
  • Strong analytical skills, with experience of leveraging data and tools to bring out portfolio insights and develop actionable intelligence.
  • Demonstrated history of driving change and managing for results.
  • Graduate degree is a must – to secure a UAE Visa and Work Permit.
