Job Purpose 

  • As Unit Head of Strategy, manages a team of strategy team members while also being assigned critical strategic program for specific bank areas, as required. 
  • Job holder is also in charge of strategy activities aligned to targets and budgets as defined by Emirates Islamic EXCO and Group accordingly, as well as of cross functional strategic projects that require wider coordination among business and support units.


Responsibilities

  • Defines strategic transformation agenda of assigned areas.
  • Syndicates with and convinces senior management on change initiatives.
  • Collaborates with strategy team consultants to agree all businesses/ functions agendas.
  • Manages the assigned team so as to Facilitate target achievement as well as to ensure professional development.
  • Fosters teamwork and cross fertilization of best practices among various initiatives.
  • Diagnose current status through qualitative and quantitative analysis.
  • Problem-solve and identify improvement areas.
  • Lead diverse teams of business executives and strategy team members towards implementation and impact achievement.
  • Focal point on strategic alignment with Budget and Target settings, job holder aligns senior management aspiration with market expectations business potential and Group strategic directions.
  • Collaboration with Finance and group as required for annual budgeting exercise.
  • Analyze, provide insights and suggest International corporate expansion and business opportunities as required.
  • Run strategy workshops with business management to align on developed strategy and roadmap.
  • Discuss and integrate management team input and direction.
  • Continuously review best practice publications as relating to the financial world.
  • Attend key consulting events and forums to gather best practice.
  • Identify potential internal synergies through exposure across all business units.
  • Share internally and externally developed best practice across business units.
  • Support business management team in planning and implementing own initiatives/budgets.
  • Ongoing/periodical discussions on business planning.
  • Regular team events focused on acquiring of required skills.
  • Attendance of key management meetings.
  • Review of business reports.
  • Ongoing analysis of performance across all business lines.


Qualifications

  • 10+ years of banking/ consulting experience.
  • Proven track record in implementing change across large organizations.
  • Previous consultancy/strategy experience with top consulting houses or bank internal consulting teams, or bank project management experience.
  • Experience of managing consulting teams.
  • Experience across multiple geographies, preferably internationally.
  • Strong banking knowledge, across most Emirates Islamic business lines.
  • Superior problem solving and analytical skills.
  • Strong verbal and written communications skills.
  • Proficient in Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Solid interpersonal skills: Relationship-builder/team player with ability to interface with all employee levels.
  • Impact-driven, can calibrate between details and big-picture to achieve results.
  • Strong sense of ownership and proactivity.
  • Able to retain high-energy levels throughout difficult transformation programs.
  • Can handle conflict and resolve it appropriately.
  • Strong leadership skills.
  • Ambitious, hardworking, self-motivated, and energetic individual.
  • Attention to details while maintaining sight on the bigger picture.
  • Strong ability to multi-task.
  • Ability to work successfully within highly diverse environment.
  • Arabic speaker(Desirable).
