Key Accountabilities of the role

  • Serve as a point of escalation for all data governance related activities to ensure that data governance policy, framework and standards are adopted and implemented in order to improve the quality and value of core data assets.
  • Deploy bank-wide Data Governance Framework that includes but not limited to Data Quality, Data Privacy & Protection, Methodologies, Standards, Processes and Toolkits.
  • Support IT/Business partnership in every aspect of the data management lifecycle, in order to establish and champion the data governance working committees.
  • Liaise with internal stakeholders to get the data governance procedures and operational standards (POS) approved and adopted by various governance committees.
  • Enable the business to leverage its data assets for competitive advantage whilst ensuring ongoing compliance with the relevant controls, security and regulations.
  • Oversee the scheduled assessment of the data management audits like, maintaining their control environment, assessing personal data breaches that impact their customers and coordinating data quality issues with the appropriate business application owners.
  • Record and maintain a detailed audit of DIB core systems and information assets that are held in these systems, as well as the teams and processes that use them.
  • Monitor the development of the ownership accountability of corporate data systems.
  • Manage the delivery of the data governance program.
  • Coordinate and schedule data governance council meetings, by scheduling meetings, taking minute, prepare meetings packs, follow-ups on action items.
  • Establish and chair operational data management committees for various data domains.
  • Support project planning and management to ensure best practice and legal frameworks are followed with regards to data governance.
  • Ensures an accurate view of the data management maturity, risk and control landscape are regularly reported across the Group, from executive to external stakeholders.
  • Monitor performance and provide insight into risk appetite and emerging thematic risks and issues for discussion and resolution at a senior governance level.
  • Ensure compliance with the approved policies, procedures, SLAs and regulatory requirements to maintain quality standards and ensure risk mitigation.
  • Ensure all assigned tasks and projects are executed within the approved policies, procedures and SLAs of the department.
  • All the above accountabilities includes but not limited to any additional/new tasks or responsibilities assigned by the line Manager.

Knowledge, Skills, and Experience

  • Minimum 6-8 years work experience in the relevant field, out of which at least 3-5 years’ experience working within data/information governance setting.
  • A good understanding of data management practices including data and information lifecycle management, data modelling, master data management and carrying out business audits and requirements gathering.
  • Experience in leading a data governance program.
  • Thorough understanding of the DAMA wheel (all data management capabilities).
  • Bachelor’s degree (Preferred related Post Graduate in data management or data governance).
