Job Description

  • The Scrum Master will lead the scrum teams and provide training to the team/organisation, ensuring adherence to established Agile processes and practices.
  • The Scrum Master will be responsible for tasks covering the product development life cycle.
  • In addition to the main scrum specific responsibilities, the incumbent will also be required to perform tasks related to end to end project management and software/product release management.


Purpose of the role

  • The Scrum Master ensures that the Scrum process is used as intended.
  • Keep the Development Team aligned with the Scrum framework, values and principles, and ensure the team is focused on continuous improvement.
  • Enforces daily builds to detect early issues in compiled and compiled code, as well as in rendered functionality.
  • Facilitate Daily Scrums, Sprint Planning, Product Backlog Improvement, Sprint Reviews, Sprint and Retrospectives, Release Planning, and other team activities as required.
  • Encourage team self-organization and empowerment.
  • Sharing agile best practices in the new industry.
  • Facilitate recalls that generate new ideas for process improvement.
  • Ensure preparation for planning through effective Product Backlog revision sessions.
  • Ensure planning meetings are fully set up for the team for upcoming sprint and release competitions.
  • Effectively remove obstacles that slow any aspect of the Development Team's efforts.
  • Work closely with the Technical Delivery Manager, Program Manager and business experts to ensure technical and business challenges are seen and resolved.
  • Actively participate in Agile organizational activities.
  • Enhance and support the Development Team's automated processes.
  • Help the team implement the process improvements they identified in Sprint Retrospectives.
  • Support the Product Owner in writing effective Product Backlog items and maintaining priority backlogs for multiple products as the Development Team provides estimates for upcoming items.
  • Develop and maintain relevant metrics that guide the development team to more efficient operations in their work and in satisfying the Product Owner and stakeholders.
  • Define and manage dependencies with other internal or external teams.
  • Work closely with Project Management to ensure appropriate project and portfolio reporting, including active risk management.


Key responsibilities of the role

  • Facilitate Daily Scrums, Sprint Planning, Product Backlog Improvement, Sprint Reviews, Sprint and Retrospectives, Release Planning, and other team activities as required.
  • Support the Product Owner in writing effective Product Backlog items and maintaining priority backlogs for as many products as the Development Team provides estimates for upcoming items.
  • Ensure planning meetings are fully set up for the team for upcoming sprint and release competitions.
  • Ensures commercial user satisfaction (internal and external).
  • Coach teams on agile concepts and ensure continuous improvement.
  • Track, resolve and report known incidents and errors through approved processes.
  • Put proactive steps to address quality and delivery issues.


Specialist skills/technical knowledge required for this role

  • Knowledge of Scrum rules and use of agile technical practices.
  • Knowledge of project management.
  • Knowledge of projects/issues in the banking environment.
  • Demonstrates judgment/self-confidence and ability to work under a tight schedule.
  • Demonstrates determination and ability to find solutions/develop effective courses of action.
  • Has effective communication skills and is able to explain technical issues.
  • Software/product release management experience.
  • Knowledge/work experience in banking environment.
  • 3+ years as a Scrum Master / Project Lead working with dedicated agile teams using Scrum or Kanban.
  • 2+ years working as a Project Administrator / Project Manager.
  • Strong understanding of and experience in software and product development.
  • Professional Certificate in Scrum methodologies.
  • Experienced and practiced Scrum Master and Project Management methodologies in banking.
  • Total number of years: from 4 to 5 years at least.
