Job Description

  • Deutsche Bank (DB) has a highly experienced and dedicated Anti Financial Crime (AFC) department. 
  • This plays a crucial role in preventing financial crime in DB's business activities and global financial services, while safeguarding the interests of the bank and society.
  • To fight financial crime effectively and respond flexibly to challenges, AFC has a matrix structure combining regional, line of business and global functions. 
  • It is divided into the following core areas: Anti-Money Laundering, Sanctions & Embargoes, Anti-Fraud, Bribery & Corruption, Investigations & Intelligence, Monitoring & Screening and Risk Assessment. 
  • Part of our commitment is to strengthen close collaboration with all business areas and support functions within our bank.

Job Responsibilities

  • the AFC area including the management of AFC, the colleagues from the Business Line AFC and from AML/CTF Policy & Governance as well as other AFC departments such as Anti-Fraud, Bribery & Corruption, Financial Crimes Operations, Transaction Monitoring
  • the business areas
  • Projects (e.g. outsourcing, NPA/ NTA)
  • legal advice on the requirements of the AML and KYC Policies, including the formulation or coordination of concrete formulation proposals and work closely with colleagues from the AML & KYC Policy & Governance team and other stakeholders and coordinate with them
  • drafting, reviewing and advising on AML-related legal terms, financial transactions (e.g. syndicated loans), M&A transactions and distribution agreements
  • Representation of interests or support the AFC colleagues nominated there for Deutsche Bank, for example at the Bundesverband Deutscher Banken eV and possibly other organizations relevant to money laundering.

Knowledge, Skills And Experience

  • You are a fully qualified lawyer and ideally have relevant professional experience in the field of money laundering prevention or you are very willing to acquire knowledge of the most important (regulatory) legal principles of money laundering prevention in practice.
  • You have several years of experience in advising companies from the financial industry or from comparable activities.
  • You are comfortable interacting with stakeholders from different areas and working in a trusting manner with the second line of defense control functions (including and in particular the legal department, compliance and operational risk) and in doing so building constructive, partnership-based relationships with these stakeholders.
  • You are resilient and, due to your efficient way of working, able to work in a matrix organization with high stakeholder complexity.
  • Structured thinking and acting as well as critical judgment for the evaluation and interpretation of legal issues is a matter of course for you.
  • You have excellent communication skills with internal and external contacts at all hierarchical levels in German and English, both spoken and written.
  • Your quick comprehension and your strong analytical skills round off your profile.
